Barcelona El Prat Airport (BCN)
Airport Information

(Barcelona, Spain)

A modern facility with an overall annual capacity for 55 million passengers, Barcelona Airport (BCN) is currently Spain's number two airport, serving more than 30 million. Situated along the Mediterranean coastline, close to the port and within the town of El Prat de Llobregat, the airport is just 10 km / 6 miles south-west of Barcelona city centre. Nearby towns include Castelldefels, Sant Boi de Llobregat, Santa Coloma de Gramenet and Viladecans.

Flights run daily to a huge number of international destinations and are handled by three very efficient terminals. All of the terminals are situated adjacent to one another and are connected by a walkway. The main airlines currently operating at Barcelona Airport include Clickair, Spanair and Vueling Airlines.

Near to the city centre and next to both the A-2 motorway (Ronda del Litoral) and the C-32 motorway (Autopista de Pau Casais), Barcelona Airport is easy to reach by road. Buses are run by Aerobus and Directbus, operating between 06:00 and 01:00, and linking the Plaza de Catalunya, the Plaza Espana and the Port de Barcelona, amongst other destinations. Trains are also available and use the RENFE Mataró line, while airport taxis offer unmatched convenience at a little more expense.

About Barcelona Tourism

Barcelona is the capital city of Catalonia and is home to Spain's second largest concentration of residents. The city is famous for its magnificent architecture as well as its thriving cultural scene, which includes museums and art galleries. There is certainly no shortage of accommodation in the city, with short breaks and weekend getaways being especially popular, particularly when the San Miguel Primavera Sound Festival is taking place each May and June, the Festa Major de Gracia in August, and the Festes de La Mercè in September. Barcelona holiday rentals often suit families and businessmen, while couples looking to indulge in a spot of pampering will likely favour the five-star hotels in the districts of Barri Gotic, Port Vell and L'Eixample, where both the Majestic Hotel and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel combine luxury with a convenient central setting.

One you have arrived at Barcelona Airport (BCN), consider taking a walking tour of the city, since this yields many notable sights, such as the famous Les Ramblas shopping boulevard, the masterpiece church of Sagrada Familia and the modernist building, Palau de la Música Catalana. Notable museums in Barcelona include the Fundació Joan Miró and the National Museum of Art of Catalonia, while much of the action is based around the Gothic Quarter's main square, the Placa Catalunya.
